The weekend dates are during the height of the summer season for shopping, fund-raising and social events. The population explodes from 75,000 year round to 400,000 that weekend.

Elaine & Willem de Kooning Exhibit

de_kooning_elaineAn art exhibition for the late East Hampton couple, Elaine and Willem de Kooning, will commemorate the Hamptons’ longstanding tradition as an art and design mecca, while celebrating the arrival of designHamptons. The fair will produce a museum-quality art exhibition showcasing the works of famed Springs husband and wife team, Elaine and Willem de Kooning. This will mark one of the few occasions their artworks will be presented together as an artistic couple. Mid-Century Modern Meets Contemporary

Now more than ever, mid-century modern is appearing everywhere in the Hamptons. Whether it be interior home design, restaurant design, architecture, fashion or museum art exhibits, this circa 1950-60’s era is regaining vast visibility in the Hamptons. Historically, the Hamptons, circa 1950’s, was the summer arts mecca for those pioneering painters of the Abstract Expressionist movement.

In 2017, a specially design North Wing of the dramatic 50,000 sq. ft. Southampton Design Pavilion will be dedicated to the influential mid-century modern design movement. This slick and elegantly designed separate yet connected 3,500 sq. ft. structure will offer dealers a dedicated modernism – focused exhibit environment.
